A big trend that was seen from many designers over the spring & summer 2018 collections was fringe. Designers such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Elie Saab, Céline, Paco Rabanne, Nina Ricci, Rodarte and Balmain.
Lately designers have been taking inspiration from the past for their spring/summer collections. Christian Dior and Balmain collections had a lot of monochrome patterns, which was very popular in the 60’s. Double denim and spaghetti straps which was a big style in the 90’s can bee seen all over the catwalks.
A popular finishing found on many looks this season was fringing. Fringing was a big trend in the 60’s with Boho fashion style. The iconic brown suede fringe jacket being jus one example. Fringing was originally popular during the 1920’s flapper periods, the box shaped dress covered in fringe which has became the iconic look for the flapper.
This season there were many examples in which fringe was used on the catwalk. It was used as a finishing touch to a hemline or as part of the design of a top or skirt (like the 1920’s flapper dress) There is no set way to wear fringe this season you can use your imagination.
I would love to know what you think of fringe and how would you incorporate it into your outfits?
