Today it has been announced that Raf Simons who is the creative director for Dior will be leaving Dior and according to his official statement will be focusing on his own line. He started working with Dior on the 9th April 2012. The statement today has confirmed rumours that have been floating around since Paris Fashion Week.

As it was announced today that after leaving Dior he intends to concentrate on his own line, people have been wondering what sort of style he will create for himself as he doesn’t have to think of the Dior style in his designs. The Dior show in the recent Paris Fashion show was his last with Dior. Dior and Simons have apparently departed amicable, the two parties just couldn’t reach and agreement on a new contract for Raf Simons so he has decided to go it alone.

In his statement Raf Simons has said “It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as creative director of Christian Dior’s women’s collection. It is a decision based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside my work.”

“Christian Dior is an extraordinary company, and it has been an immense privilege to write a few pages of this magnificent book. I want to thank Mr. Bernard Arnault for the trust he has put in me, giving me the incredible opportunity to work at this beautiful house surrounded by the most amazing team one could ever dream of. I have also had the chance over the last few years to benefit from the leadership of Sidney Toledano. His thoughtful, heartfelt and inspired management will also remain as one of the most important experiences of my professional career.”

Tongues have also been wagging who will replace Mr Simons at Dior. Who would you choose?

Whom ever replaces him and also to Raf Simons himself, I wish them best of luck and I hope that both parties still create some wonderful designs.

Let me know what you think of this news and who would you want to see take over as Creative Director of Dior?
